text_fieldsNew Delhi: An Indian national was killed after a commercial vessel carrying 14 Indians came under attack near Limah off Oman's coast, prompting India to condemn the incident and call for an end to attacks on shipping in the region.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Tuesday that 13 Indian crew members had been rescued, while the remaining crew member succumbed to injuries sustained in the attack on the vessel, MSV AL JUSUFI, on Monday evening.
The Indian Embassy in Oman is coordinating with local authorities to arrange the return of the rescued crew members and the transportation of the deceased person's mortal remains to India.
Expressing concern over repeated attacks on commercial vessels, the MEA called for an immediate reduction in regional tensions and a diplomatic resolution to the ongoing conflict. It also stressed the need to protect civilian infrastructure and ensure uninterrupted maritime trade and navigation in accordance with international law.
The latest incident follows a series of attacks involving vessels with Indian crew members off Oman's coast.

Earlier, on October 6, the vessel MT On Peace was struck by a projectile while sailing through the Strait of Hormuz, injuring 12 crew members, including 11 Indians.
