Kathmandu: When there are only four days to elections in Nepal, an Indian national has been arrested by the country's police with 15,000 fake ballot papers, PTI reported citing officials' accounts.

Nepal is all set to go to elections for the federal Parliament as well as the provincial assemblies on November 20, and the 40-year-old individual gets caught.

A team of Nepal Police arrested Izaajat Ahmed from Jagannathpur Rural Municipality of Parsa district in southern Nepal.

The arrestee, identified as Izaajat Ahmed, got apprehended from Jagannathpur Rural Municipality of Parsa district in southern Nepal. He is a resident of West Champaran district, Bihar, a statement released by the Nepal Police stated.

It said that he was going from India to Nepal, carrying the ballot papers for provincial and parliamentary elections on a motorbike, before he was caught. His motorbike was Indian-registered.

Police have initiated a further investigation into the matter after Ahmed was taken into custody. It is not known yet which political party or individual he was taking the ballot papers for.

The upcoming elections are said to be important for the landlocked country in consolidating the democratic process and maintaining stability.
