I think they may get a chance to be Prime Minister: Stalin tells Shah

Chennai: Tamil Nadu MK Stalin on Monday suggested two personalities from Tamil Nadu for the post of Prime Minister in a repartee to Union Minister Amit Shah’s offer of a future prime minster from the state.

Amit Shah on Sunday told his party workers to work hard to bring in a leader from Tamil Nadu to the post of prime minister in future, according to NDTV.

MK Stalin, however, has taken swipe at Shah asking why he was angry with Prime Minster Modi, while welcoming the Home Minister’s suggestion.

Stalin urged in a lighter vein to Shah to consider either Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan or Union minister L Murugan for the post.

‘If the BJP has the idea that a Tamilian should be the Prime Minister, there are Tamilisai Soundararajan (Telangana Governor) and L Murugan (Union Minister). I think they may get a chance to be Prime Minister candidates,’ Stalin was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, Shah reportedly told a closed-door meeting of state BJP leaders that DMK prevented K Kamaraj and GK Moopanar from becoming prime minister.

After the indoor discussion spilled out, Stalin dared Shah to make the statement public.

Questioning Shah about his claim of allocation of funds as part of Centre’s initiatives to the state, DMK said it is part of the government’s ‘constitutional duty’.

TR Baalu, DMK Parliamentary Party leader, said Shah could not mention any "special schemes’.
