The government has notified India’s 2027 Census, which will include caste data for the first time since 2011. It will be conducted in two phases—on October 1, 2026, for snow-bound regions, and on March 1, 2027, for the rest of the country. Self-enumeration will also be enabled, allowing citizens to submit their data independently.
