Hyderabad: The BBC documentary that questioned Prime Minister Modi’s leadership during 2002 Gujarat riots continues to create sound bites, mostly from Modi’s opponents.

Asaduddin Owaisi, chief of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), joined a chorus critical of Modi today asking whether Prime Minister would block the upcoming movie on Godse, the assassinator of Mahata Gandhi.

The MP for Hyderabad lampooned whether someone from space or sky killed people in the Gujarat riots, according to a report by NDTV.

“The Modi Government has banned the BBC Interview on Twitter and YouTube in India on the grounds of British laws, “he reportedly said.

Owaisi sought the BJP administration to give its opinion on Godse, and challenged the BJP to ban the movie on Godese before January 30, the day when Gandhi was assassinated.

He went further critical of Modi saying that posters for G20 meet in Delhi is captioned as ‘ G20 in Mother of Democracy’, while there is ban on BBC documentary on YouTube.

Opposition parties questioned the Centre’s ban on two-part BBC documentary India: The Modi Question.

But the BJP administration termed the BBC documentary a “propaganda piece” and blocked streaming of the flick on YouTube and Twitter posts.

Meanwhile, an Indian-origin lawmaker in UK told the nation’s parliament that Prime Minister Modi is one of the most powerful persons on the planet.

MP Lord Karan Bilimoria reminded the UK parliament of Modi’s rise from being a tea seller on a Guajarat railway station to becoming “one of the most powerful people”.

Bilimoria’s praise for Modi follows UK PM Rishi Sunak’s refusal to support the BBC documentary on 2002 Gujarat riots which questioned Modi’s leadership at the time.
