New Delhi: Demanding to rename the road, right-wing outfit Hindu Sena defaced a signboard for Babar Road in Central Delhi. Activists of the outfit pasted a poster with Ayodhya Marg written on it, PTI reported.

The vandalism happened when the Ram Temple inauguration was just a couple of days away.

An official of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) said they are getting the poster removed and will file a police complaint in the matter.

Meanwhile, Hindu Sena president Vishnu Gupta said the outfit has been demanding for a long time that the name Babar Road should be changed.

For a long time, Hindu Sena had been demanding that the name of Babur Road be changed. A letter was also sent to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi in this regard. According to the outfit, India is the birthplace of great people like Sri Ram, Valmiki and Guru Ravidas, and therefore, there is no need for a road named after Babur in the country.

Meanwhile, Central government institutions have announced a holiday till noon on January 22 for the occasion of the Ram Temple consecration. In a statement released on January 18, the Finance Ministry said that all public sector banks, insurance companies, financial institutions, and rural banks will not function till noon on January 22.

The Reserve Bank, announcing a holiday on the day, informed that trading of government securities and money markets will not function. The National Stock Exchange has also announced that there will be no stock trading. The Maharashtra government has also declared a public holiday on the day, along with many other states, which have declared a holiday on the day. Central Universities like Delhi University and Jamia Millia Islamia (along with its schools) declared a half-day holiday on January 22.
