Grave injustice to Muslim daughters: PM Modi on triple talaq
text_fieldsBhopal: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said that advocating Triple Talaq is a "grave injustice" to Muslim women and if it was a necessary tenet of Islam, then why Pakistan, Bangladesh and Indonesia do not have it.
During his visit to Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal, Modi was addressing BJP workers selected from across the country who have made effective contributions in empowering their booths under the party’s ‘Mera Booth Sabse Majboot’ campaign.
He said that whoever talks in favour of triple talaq, those vote-hungry people are doing a great injustice to the Muslim daughters. It is beyond this; the whole family gets ruined.
If it has been a necessary tenet of Islam, then why was it banned in countries like Qatar, Jordan, Indonesia and Pakistan and Bangladesh, said the PM while addressing the workers.
Strongly pitching for the Uniform Civil Code, he said that UCC was part of the Constitution.
"Muslims of India should understand who are those inciting them for their gains. Today we are seeing some people inciting others (Muslims) in the name of a uniform civil code. Even the Constitution talks about equal rights for the citizens. They (opposition) blame us, but it is they who do Muslim, Muslim", the prime Minister said.
Party workers are BJP’s biggest strength, Modi further said, adding that Madhya Pradesh has a big role in making the BJP world’s largest party.
“We don’t sit in air-conditioned offices and issue diktats, we brave harsh weather to be with people,” PM Modi said to the BJP workers.
He further said that the BJP has decided it would not adopt the path of appeasement and vote bank politics. “The BJP has decided that it won’t adopt the path of appeasement and vote bank,” he said.
The PM also said the development of villages was a must for India to become a developed country.
