Govt debunks viral militant attack claim on Army in Baramulla

New Delhi: The government dismissed social media reports of militants attacking Indian Army personnel in Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir, labelling them "fake" with no casualties among security forces.
Security forces conducted a joint operation in Uri sector's Buchhar area on March 14-15 night, foiling an infiltration bid and eliminating one Pakistani terrorist. Troops recovered an AK rifle, pistols, and ammunition without losses, per official statements and Chinar Corps post on X.
The Press Information Bureau (PIB) highlighted misleading posts from pro-Pakistani accounts claiming 11 soldiers injured and one dead. "Several pro-Pakistani accounts are circulating posts claiming that militants attacked the Indian Army in Baramulla, resulting in 11 soldiers being injured and one fatality. This claim is fake," PIB stated, sharing screenshots of false reports and TV visuals.
Authorities urged caution against suspicious online content about government matters, aligning details with Army's confirmed account of spotting, challenging, and neutralising the intruder in thicket cover.
