New Delhi: Jailed godman Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh seems to be having fun after being released on 40-day parole from Haryana's Sunaria jail on October 14.
The Dera Sacha Sauda chief is serving a 20-year jail term after being convicted allegedly for raping two of his female disciples in his ashram, headquartered in Sirsa, according to India Today.
Out on parole, Singh is not sitting chop-fallen but leading prayer meetings, working on music videos and indulge in Diwali celebrations.
Ram Rahim and four others were convicted in 2021 for plotting to kill Dera manager Ranjith Singh in 2002.
He was previously convicted in 2019 for the murder of a journalist 16 years ago.
On Wednesday this week Ram Rahim renamed his adopted daughter Honeypreet as 'Ruhani didi', or 'Ruh di' at the Dera in Uttar Pradesh's Baghpat, the report said.
Renaming is required because people called her by the name "did did" confusing with other women disciples, he said.
Honeypreet came out on bail in 2019 after she was arrested in 2017 for inciting riots in Panchkula.
Ram Rahim, who is known for his high octane music videos, released a video 'Sadi Nit Diwali' for Diwali on his YouTube channel " Saint MSG"
The video has Ram Rahim in different poses from old clips with his two mentors Shah Satnam and Shah Mastana against the backdrop of the track he composed and rendered.
Every day since his release Ram Rahim was giving online discourse called " Satsangs" to his followers, according to The Indian Express.
He told his followers that the time in jail to him was "spiritual journey" and announced that he would pen a book on it.
The video of the discourse, also attended by the BJP Haryana unit alongside leaders including Karnal Mayor Renu Bala Gupta receiving criticism, went viral online.
The Karnal Mayor reportedly called the convicted godman 'pitaji' (father).
