Hyderabad: Former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao was rushed to hospital at 2 am today with hip injury after he fell in his house.

The 69-year-old was reeling from poll debacle at the hands of the Congress when the veteran leader suffered the injury.

He was taken to Yashoda Hospital in Hyderabad, and doctors suspect he may have broken his hip from the fall, perhaps requiring a surgery.

He had been receiving people at home in the last three days since losing the Assembly polls.

KCR had served as the Chief Minister of Telangana since the formation of the state in 2014.

His party Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) took a drubbing in the Assembly polls with the Congress emerging as a formidable force.

KCR contested in two seats in Telangana winning Gajwel seat but losing Kamareddy to BJP's Katipally Venkata Ramana Reddy, who defeated KCR and Revanth Reddy.

The victory in the second seat he contested and his party’s thumping majority in the polls helped Congress' Revanth Reddy to become the chief minister of the state.

KCR went whole hog in the campaign highlighting his government’s welfare measures to the poor.

However, his administration faced allegations of discrimination and corruption after MLAs were given full powers to decide the distribution of funds, according to NDTV.

Ahead of polls, KCR tried in vain to salvage the government’s image by urging MLAs to improve their performance.
