For how many tempos you sold airports to Adani? Rahul asks Modi

New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi mocked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, asking the latter how many times Modi sold the nation's airports to businessman Gautam Adani, The Wire reported.

Rahul said in a video post on X, "Today I was at Lucknow airport. From here to Mumbai and from Guwahati to Ahmedabad, the Prime Minister has handed over all the airports to his 'tempo friend'. The country's assets were sold for how many tempos, will Narendra Modi tell the public?"

Rahul's post comes days after Modi falsely accused him of not mentioning Adani and Mukesh Ambani in his speeches, The Wire writes. Modi claimed that Congress received money from both businessmen, two of Asia's richest, in "tempos".

Rahul said that he landed in the airport in Lucknow, which is named after Chaudhary Charan Singh, who was a Congress leader.

"Between 2020 and 2021, seven airports like this one – which were built from taxpayers' money – have been handed over to Gautam bhai for 50 years," he said in Hindi.

He named the Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Mangaluru, Guwahati, and Thiruvananthapuram airports.

"Tell us how many tempos this took. When will you begin this enquiry? You had said five or six days ago that Adani and Ambani are giving us black money. Send the CBI and ED," Rahul said.

Then, he could be heard making a wordplay in English. "I was wondering how many tempos it requires to do this at such a tempo," he said.

At the airport, where he had taken the video, he pointed at an advertisement which read Adani Defence and Aerospace.
