Fake photo of Prakash Raj at Kumbh Mela: actor complains
text_fieldsNew Delhi: After a person Kannada filmmaker shared a fake photo of actor Prakash Raj taking a holy dip at Kumbh Mela, the actor filed a complaint with Mysuru police on Saturday.
The photo, generated using AI, was shared on Facebook, though it is no longer there, by filmmaker Prashant Sambargi. He wrote on the post, “Hope all his sins are forgiven and removed,” TIE quoted.
After filing the complaint with Mysur Police, Prakash Raj said he has never spoken against any religion, but some are creating religious divides. He said he didn't even know who Sambargi was. He noted that Sambargi used AI technology to create a fake photo of him to spread misinformation.
Raj continued that Maha Kumbh is a sacred event for Hindus and those who believe in God, but his photo was used for political gains. He said that some people have been spreading the that he has been anti-Hindu for years, which has become routine. No one is questioning these types of propaganda, and those who do this are no faithful followers of any religion, but they spread hatred, he said.
He continued, “Now, I have complained, Sambargi. He has been summoned to the police station and must clarify his actions within 15 days. The public deserves to know the truth,” TIE quoted.
He added that fake news is destroying society, and those who spread it must be held accountable.
Prakash Raj also reminded that Sambargi has a similar history of troubling others, adding that he had harassed actresses in the past.
He further stated that faith is a personal choice, and though he does not believe in God, he respects his family's faith in god. He added that he believed in humanity and one can live without God but not without fellow humans.
