The mother of a 2012 rape-murder victim has requested the Dharmasthala Special Investigation Team (SIT) to subject complainant C N Chinnaiah to narco-analysis in connection with the ongoing probe into the secret burials case.

In her letter to SIT chief Pronab Mohanty, the woman argued that crucial leads could emerge if Chinnaiah underwent the test.

Chinnaiah, who alleged that he was forced to bury multiple bodies under threat, is the prime complainant in the secret burials case. He was arrested last Saturday on charges of perjury and is currently in judicial custody.

The victim’s mother referred to a statement reportedly made by Chinnaiah’s sister to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), claiming her brother had been compelled to leave Dharmasthala after facing threats in the aftermath of the 2012 rape and murder.

She also pointed to an interview Chinnaiah gave to a YouTube channel, where one Ravi Poojary allegedly disclosed the names of those responsible for her daughter’s death. “Poojary was subsequently killed to protect the culprits,” she alleged in her letter.

Highlighting Chinnaiah’s own admission that he had buried several bodies at Mannasanka — the same location where her daughter’s body was found — she added: “This shows that there were also plans to bury her body. I urge you to conduct a narco-analysis on Chinnaiah to verify the same.”

The SIT, constituted on July 19 following the registration of an FIR based on Chinnaiah’s complaint, has so far exhumed multiple sites across Dharmasthala in early August as part of its evidence-gathering process.
