New Delhi: In the deadly car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday, the death toll has reached nine. Meanwhile, examination of CCTV footage has found that the white Hyundai i20 car, which exploded on Monday evening, was parked near the Red Fort for more than three hours before the horrible incident, India Today reported.

Police informed that the car entered a parking lot near the Sunehri Masjid near the Red Fort at 3:19 pm and remained there until 6:48 pm, before it left the lot.

Recovered footage also covers the vehicle's final movements before the blast.

Police say that the car had a Haryana registration and was carrying three people inside. It was moving slowly towards a traffic light around 6:52 pm and exploded.

It is learned that multiple agencies, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA), have reached the spot and examined it.

The car is originally registered to one Salman, who is a resident of Faridabad. Police have detained him, according to PTI.

When India Today reported that the car was sold to one Tariq, who is a resident of Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama, The Economic Times reported that Salman sold the car to a person named Devendra in Okhla.

“Delhi Police along with Gurugram police detained Md Salman on Monday and is questioning him about the car. He had sold it to a person in Okhla named Devendra. Later, the vehicle was again sold to someone in Ambala and police are tracing the people,” a senior police officer told PTI.

Certain news houses report that two people were detained from Pulwama regarding the incident.

It is also learned that Delhi Police registered a case in connection with the blast under various Sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Explosives Act, and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
