New Delhi: An 18-year-old Dalit woman was pushed into a cauldron with hot oil for resisting sexual assault in Uttar Pradesh’s Baghpat.

The woman, who is working at an oil mill, has been taken to Delhi for treatment following serious burn injuries, NDTV reported.

After the victim’s brother filed a complaint, police arrested three accused, including the mill owner.

The brother in his complaint said his family worked at an oil mill at Dhanaura Silvernagar village.

His sister was on duty, when the mill owner Pramod and associates Raju and Sandip started harassing her.

When she resisted harassment, they hurled casteist abuses at her before pushing her into the hot oil in the cauldron, he said.

The woman recorded her statement at the hospital in Delhi saying that the accused misbehaved with her and pushed her into the cauldron.

The woman reportedly has burns more than half her body including serious injuries on her her legs and arms.

The police registered a case under sections relating to attempt to murder, assaulting a woman and under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

‘We have arrested the three accused and further action is being taken,’ Circle Officer Vijay Chaudhary was quoted as saying.
