Set back to Allu Arjun: court sends him to 14 day judicial custody
text_fieldsHyderabad: The Nampally Magistrate Court here in Telangana sent Telugu superstar Allu Arjun to 14 days of judicial custody on Friday in a case of the death of a woman at the screening of his latest release, Pushpa 2: The Rule. The woman, who was with her son, lost her life in a stampede in an unexpected crowd allegedly caused by the surprise appearance of the actor at a movie theatre here.
The woman’s eight-year-old son was grievously hurt and remained hospitalized, reports Times of India.
Allu Arjun, who was arrested earlier on the day in the case, will be lodged in the Chanchalguda Central Jail. However, the Telangana High Court is hearing the actor’s plea to quash the FIR against him, and only after the court’s decision on the same will he be sent to jail.
It was under tight security, the actor was arrested from his home and driven in a police car to the Chikkadpally police station.
The 35-year-old woman died, and her eight-year-old son was hospitalised in the incident, which took place on December 4 night when a large number of fans thronged the Sandhya theatre here to have a glimpse of the actor, PTI reported.
The city police have registered a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under sections 105 and 118(1) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Chikkadpally police station based on the complaint lodged by the deceased woman's family.
Allu Arjun, on December 11, approached the Telangana High Court seeking to quash the FIR registered against him in connection with the death of the woman.
