New Delhi: A top official of J P Morgan, American multinational finance corporation based in New York City, has expressed distress at having allegedly faced caste discrimination in Gujarat because he ‘wasn't born Gujarati’, NDTV reported.

Anirudh Kejriwal who is a Vice President at JP Morgan, has taken to social media platform X to share his unpleasant experience that marred his excitement while moving in his dream home.

Expressing his grievance, Anirudh Kejriwal said he had chosen Gujarat over an opportunity in Singapore as he was captivated by the promise of GIFT City.

‘After living in Mumbai for years, I decided to move to Gujarat, choosing it over an opportunity in Singapore. I was captivated by the promise of GIFT City and the grand vision our PM and government laid out for us. It inspired me so much that I took a big step and decided to buy my first house here, dreaming of a future filled with hope and growth,’ Kejriwal said on X.

The excitement about his choice did not last long as he began facing ‘unexpected challenges with my dream home’ after allegedly being barred from moving in.

‘But my excitement turned to heartbreak. I'm facing unexpected challenges with my dream home, barred from moving in, not because of anything I've done, but because I wasn't born Gujarati,’ he reportedly added.

Anirudh Kejriwal, sharing his experience, tagged on X the Gujarat Police, Gujarat BJP, the Chief Minister of Gujarat, among others.

In another post on X he pointed at the social barriers prevailing in the country, saying that ‘Worse yet, I'm warned that even if I manage to get in, happiness will be out of reach, and troubles will follow. It's a bitter pill to swallow. Choosing Gujarat, leaving behind my life in Mumbai and the chance to move to Singapore, I never thought I'd face such discrimination.’

Anirudh Kejriwal also said he would take legal action in order to ‘reclaim his rights and investments’, according to the report.

The post has been widely circulated with many reacting vehemently to the incident and one user said: ‘So sorry to hear about what you had to go through, Anirudh! But this is one of the sad realities of staying in Gujarat! Hope you and your family are fine!’
