China opposes Amit Shah's visit to Arunachal Pradesh
text_fieldsNew Delhi: After China expressed objection to Amit Shah visiting Arunachal Pradesh, the Union Home Minister said that no one should question India's territorial integrity. He added that nobody could take an inch of Indian land, NDTV reported.
According to a Chinese minister, Shah's visit to the Indian state violates Beijing's territorial sovereignty and therefore, Beijing strictly opposes Shah's visit as well as his activities in the border state.
Shah has launched the 'Vibrant Villages Programme' from Kibithoo, the village at the easternmost point in India, in Arunachal Pradesh. He claimed that before 2014, the Northeast region was known as a "disturbed region", but this has changed in the last nine years. It has resulted from PM Modi's 'Look East' policy, he claimed and added that the Northeast now contributes to the development of the country.
China "renamed" some of the places in Arunachal Pradesh last week, claiming that they are part of its territory.
On Monday Chinese administration said that "Zangnan" is their territory and Shah visiting the place violates China's territorial sovereignty and affects the peace and tranquillity of the border situation.
After China's "renaming", India asserted that Arunachal Pradesh is an inalienable part of India and China going inventive names to places will not change the reality.
Ministry of External Affairs said last week that it was not the first time China was making similar attempts. The United States also issued a statement opposing China's attempts to advance into Indian territory.
