New Delhi: The Union Home Ministry on Thursday sent to Manipur police official Rakesh Balwal as the northeastern state is showing signs of sinking in another bout of violence.

Violence began to be reported in the state following the murder of two students who had gone missing in July.

The 2012-batch IPS officer Balwal , belonging to Manipur cadre, is currently posted in Jammu and Kashmir, according to NDTV.

Centre is leaving no stones unturned to contain the spiraling violence happening since May this year and

Balwal’s relocation is seen as part of this concerted effort.

In the early hours today a mob vandalised the deputy commissioner's office in Imphal West.

Last night security forces and protesters fought in Uripok, Yaiskul, Sagolband, and Tera, leading to police firing multiple rounds of tear gas shells.

On Tuesday photos, emerged since their missing, showed bodies of students: Phijam Hemjit (20) and Hijam Linthoingambi (17).

They were previously photographed before their death sitting at an armed group’s jungle camp.

The girl was seen dressed in a white t-shirt and the boy was carrying a backpack.

Two men armed with guns were ominously visible behind them, spelling doom for them.

The next photo showed their bodies slumped on the ground.

They were last seen in Bishnupur district, 35 kilometers from Churachandpur where violence broke out in May.

The armed men must have kidnapped and took them over to Churachandpur.

Protests erupted in the state capital Imphal after the students’ photos began to be circulating on social media.

Hundreds marched towards Chief Minister N Biren Singh's residence, prompting police to act in riot gear.

The Manipur government banned internet in the state till Sunday.
