New Delhi: The Attorney General KK Venugopal has made a puzzling statement on the acceptance of the contentious farm laws across the country by saying that there was huge support for the laws in states like, Karnataka, Kerala etc.

The statement of the chief lawyer of the Government of India is certainly to be looked down as fishy as two weeks have not passed since the Kerala Legislative Assembly unanimously passed a resolution against the farm laws.

The AG mentioned Kerala while making his arguments in favour of the laws which is drawing strong protest across the country.

The Central government has always tried to establish that the protest against law is limited to only one state, i.e., Punjab.

On December 16, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar had said that the ongoing protest protest was an exception and the agitation was limited to one state, PTI reported.

However, the farmers had termed the Centre's stance as part of the motive to portray the protest as a divisive one.

According to a Caravan report, over three hundred farmers' organisations from states such as Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana are supporting the protests.
