New Delhi: As per sources, Canada detained Khalistani terrorist Arshdeep Dalla, an aide of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, reports NDTV. The report, however, says that there is no information on whether Dalla is still in jail or released.

According to NDTV, India’s diplomatic channels with Canada are closed at the moment, and no information is being shared between the two nations. Thus, there has been no official confirmation about Dalla’s detention.

As per the NDTV sources, Dalla was detained after a shootout in Canada on 27-28 October, and security agencies now have information about the shootout, suggesting that Dalla was present there.

Canadian agencies said that the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is investigating the shooting that took place in Milton.

The Guelph Police contacted the HRPS on the morning of October 28 after two police got hospitalised in the shootout. One of them was released after receiving treatment, it is learned.

Indian security agencies’ sources said that 28-year-old Dalla lives in Canada’s Surrey with his wife. He is accused of being involved in multiple cases of extortion, murder and other terror-linked activities. He is charged with the UAPA also, and a Lookout Circular has been issued against him by the Punjab Police.

Dalla has taken responsibility for the murder of an electrician, Paramjeet Singh, in a Facebook post. The victim is from Punjab’s Jagraon. Dalla’s associates shot dead Manohar Lal, a Dera Sacha Sauda follower, in November 2020.

Dalla is also involved in creating a conspiracy to kidnap and kill Shakti Singh, another Dera Sacha Sauda follower. Dalla’s associates have testified that he is an expert in radicalisation and motivating youth to commit terror-related activities in India.
