Bengaluru: An alarming incident in Bengaluru has gone viral after a woman and her family allegedly tried to ‘courier’ her elderly father in a sack as part of a staged social media reel, raising serious concerns about reckless content creation.

The incident reportedly occurred at a courier service office under the Vyalikaval police station, where the family arrived carrying a large sack and requested it be shipped. Staff grew suspicious when the group refused to disclose the contents of the parcel.

In what has stunned many online, the daughter and her family packed her father into a gunny bag, brought him to the courier office, and attempted to send him outside Bengaluru. The stunt was reportedly meant to highlight the difficulties of securing bus and train tickets during the festive season, including Ugadi and Ramzan.

Employees, sensing something unusual, inspected the package and discovered an elderly man inside. Reports indicate the man appeared distressed and struggled to breathe after being confined in the tightly packed space.

When questioned, the family claimed the act was part of a planned social media video, intended as a humorous take on how ‘couriering a person’ might seem easier than securing travel tickets during peak demand. Despite being confronted, the family allegedly insisted the staff accept the parcel, escalating the situation and prompting employees to alert the police.

Authorities arrived promptly and took the family to the police station for questioning. The group later recorded an apology video, admitting that their actions were irresponsible and potentially dangerous. Police issued a strict warning against attempting such stunts in the future and released the family without registering a formal case.

The incident has sparked widespread debate on social media, with many users criticising the extreme measures some individuals take to create viral content.
