BJP has decided to make changes to the state in-charges, as announced by JP Nadda, National President of BJP on Friday, November 13. Among those who saw a role change was CT Ravi, who served as Minister for Tourism, Kannada and Culture in BS Yediyurappa's cabinet until October 3, 2020

Ravi has been appointed the state in-charge of party affairs in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Goa.

Earlier Ravi had resigned from the post of Minister after being offered a higher rank at the national level. He also was formerly a legislator from Chikmaglur.

In response to the news, renowned author S.G. Surya has tweeted, "On Diwali eve we get the good news of Shri. CT Ravi being appointed as Prabhari(In-charge) of BJP Tamil Nadu Unit. I am sure history will be made in Tamil Nadu politics with your appointment. Hearty Welcome to our state. I wish you and your family a very Happy Diwali Ravi Ji."

Meanwhile, thanking BJP national president J P Nadda, Ravi wrote in Twitter today that "AKaryakarta born in a village of Chikkamangaluru is today as BJP incharge of GOa, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu."

Ravi has been given charge of Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, both which are not a stronghold for BJP. In Tamil Nadu, BJP does not have a strong presence to compete with regional parties. In Maharashtra, the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress alliance has a firm hold.

CT Ravi has been brought to spotlight multiple times due to controversial statements, the latest in the list being his suggestion to criminalize 'love-jihad.' In the Babri Masjid case, he has also stated that there is no evidence required to say that the land is 'Ram Janbhoomi.'
