cancel

Tumakuru/Karnataka: Prime Minister Narendra Modi claimed that BJP will make a thumping victory in Karnataka, where Assembly elections are due on May 10. He further said that the crowd that turned up at the roadshow where he spoke, according to him, was not preplanned, and the same is proof of his prediction of victory, PTI reported.

The PM led a big roadshow here on Friday, ahead of the public meeting, a part of BJP's campaigning here.

He quoted Kannada poet Kuvempu's poem hailing Lord Hanuman and chanted 'Bajrang Bali Ki Jai'.

"BJP is coming (to power) with a thumping majority. There was no preplanned programme, but a mega roadshow happened due to the overwhelming crowd," he said.

Then he aimed at attack on Congres, saying that the party has a problem with people who chant 'Jai Bajrang Bali'.

In the campaigns, he also made leveraged the controversial film "The Kerala Story" to attack Congress. He claimed that the Congress party of sheltering terrorists and created false narratives for the sake of elections while addressing a public rally in the Ballari district of Karnataka.

He invoked 'The Kerala Story' movie and said that the film exposes the ugly truth of terrorism and its design. He added that Congress is opposing the movie, which is based on a terror conspiracy, and standing with terror tendencies. Modi stated that Congress had shielded terrorism for the vote bank.

On the final stretch of electioneering, both the ruling BJP and opposition Congress are fighting tooth and nail in their bid to win the high-stakes Karnataka Assembly election. Voting is on May 10, and the results will be declared on May 13.
