BJP attempting to replace public prosecutors in farmers protest cases: AAP

AAP leader Raghav Chadha on Monday alleged that the BJP wants to replace public prosecutors appointed by the Delhi government in cases pertaining to the farmers' protests with their own lawyers to take revenge from the farmers. The Rajender Nagar MLA further slammed the BJP-led Centre for not resolving the issues raised by the farmers despite eight-month-long protests. Farmers have been protesting the three controversial central farm laws passed by the Centre last year on the borders of the capital city.

"AAP instructs BJP not to interfere in impartial judicial action and stop their nefarious attempts at punishing innocent farmers," Chadha said.

A few days back, Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal had expressed satisfaction over the prosecutors appointed by the Delhi government and acknowledged their capability at a meeting on July 1, Chadha added. "When Delhi Lt Governor had already admitted that prosecutors appointed by Delhi are well capable, then why is BJP removing them and bringing its own lawyers?" he asked.

"Farmers have stripped many big arrogant leaders of power. They have removed many governments. So, don't take the country's farmers lightly. When the country's farmers will fight back together, then you will get to know," Chadha warned.

He further accused the BJP of influencing the prosecution process which is an independent arm of any criminal trial.
