Bihar man assaulted after being mistaken for Bangladeshi immigrant; police launch probe
text_fieldsMadhubani: Police in Bihar’s Madhubani district have launched an investigation after a man was assaulted by two youths who allegedly mistook him for an illegal Bangladeshi immigrant. The incident came to light after a video of the assault circulated widely on social media, prompting immediate police action.
Madhubani Superintendent of Police Yogendra Kumar stated on Friday that the police's social media cell verified the footage and traced the incident to Chakda, within the jurisdiction of the Rajnagar police station. The investigation revealed that the victim is a mason from Birpur in the Supaul district, not a foreign national as his attackers had claimed.
The two accused, identified as residents of Rajnagar, have been booked for attempted murder. "Raids are being conducted to arrest both individuals," the Superintendent confirmed, adding that strict action would be taken against those responsible for spreading rumours or circulating such videos to incite violence.
