Bajrang Dal men storm Dehradun showroom, write ‘Jihadi’ on managers’ name tags
text_fieldsDehradun: A purported video circulating widely on social media shows a group of Bajrang Dal activists creating a ruckus at a footwear showroom in Dehradun and allegedly writing “Jihadi” on the name tags of two Muslim staff members over accusations of harassment of Hindu employees.
The incident reportedly took place on Thursday at a footwear outlet located on Rajpur Road in Dehradun, sources said.
The group was led by Bajrang Dal’s Uttarakhand state convenor Vikas Verma, who claimed they acted after receiving complaints from Hindu employees working at the showroom.
According to Verma, the outlet’s manager and co-manager, both Muslims, were allegedly harassing Hindu staffers by forcing them to work four extra hours without additional pay.
“The two Muslim managers were targeting Hindu employees by making them work overtime for four hours without paying any extra money. They also falsely accused them of theft to cut their salaries,” Verma told PTI.
When asked whether the matter had been reported to the police before the group’s action, Verma claimed that authorities had failed to act on similar complaints raised earlier.
Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police (City) Pramod Kumar said no formal complaint had been received regarding the incident.
“We have not received any complaint in the matter. We will take action if anyone approaches the police,” he said.
