Babri Masjid won’t be rebuilt, day of ‘Qayamat’ won’t come: Yogi
text_fieldsBarabanki: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday asserted that the day of ‘Qayamat’ (doomsday) will never come and the Babri Masjid will never be rebuilt.
Speaking at a religious event at the Ram Janaki Temple in Dulhadepur Kuti, Barabanki — a district neighbouring Ayodhya — Adityanath said, “We had said, ‘Ram Lalla, hum aayenge, mandir wahi banaayenge’ (Child Ram, we will come and build the temple right there). Has the temple been built? Is there any doubt?” The audience responded by chanting “Jai Shri Ram.”
He added, “The day of ‘Qayamat’ will never come and hence the Babri structure will never be rebuilt. Those dreaming of that day will rot away — it will never come.”
The event was held in memory of late Mahant Baba Harishankar Das Maharaj, according to a statement from the Uttar Pradesh government.
The statement comes two weeks after Janata Unnayan Party chief Humayun Kabir — previously suspended from the Trinamool Congress for announcing plans to build a replica of the Babri Masjid in Murshidabad, West Bengal — declared that construction of ‘Babri 2.0’ would begin on February 11. Following this, a Hindutva fringe group urged people in Uttar Pradesh to march to Murshidabad.
The Babri Masjid issue has a long and fractious history. The Supreme Court settled the dispute on November 9, 2019, ruling in favour of constructing a Ram temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya and allocating an alternative five-acre plot for a mosque. Hindus have long contended that the three-domed mosque, built by or at the behest of Mughal emperor Babur, was erected after destroying an existing Ram temple.
Adityanath highlighted the historic significance of the Ram temple’s construction, saying, “After 500 years, the ‘glorious moment’ of building the Ram temple has arrived in Ayodhya. Many kings and governments have come in these centuries, but why did none of them think of building a temple for Lord Ram at his birthplace?”
He also criticised opposition parties, saying, “Some people adopt an opportunistic attitude. They remember Ram in a crisis but forget him later. Lord Ram has also forgotten them now. There is no place for Ramdrohis, or traitors of Lord Ram, anywhere.”
Continuing his attack, Adityanath said, “To those who obstructed Ram devotees and still dream of the Babri structure: the day of doom will never come. Don’t live for doomsday; learn to live according to India’s laws. Those who break the law will go to hell, not heaven.”
Adityanath further urged citizens to adopt a positive mindset for the vision of ‘Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat’ (One India, Better India). He said, “Every saint’s spiritual practice is for the country. Dharma and patriotism complement each other — one is the body, the other the soul.”
Warning against internal and external threats, he said, “Sanatan Dharma, India, and Indianness are under attack globally. We must remain vigilant against conspiracies — whether from those plotting, those falling prey, or those selling themselves out.”
