Arvind Kejriwal is my brother and political mentor: Manish Sisodia
text_fieldsNew Delhi: Senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia told a party gathering that he would accept a role in the Delhi government only after the people's verdict, referring to the upcoming Assembly election in Delhi.
While recounting his harrowing days in the jail, Sisodia claimed that attempts were made to turn him against former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a corruption case linked to Delhi liquor policy case, NDTV reported.
Manish Sisodia, who was granted bail last month after doing one-and-half years in jail, told the party event called Janata ki Adalat (people's court) that‘I was told in the jail, 'name Kejriwal, you will be saved.
When the case against him emerged, Sisodia resigned as Delhi's deputy chief minister alongside giving up other portfolios he held.
Kejriwal previously announced he would return to the post only after a favourable people’s verdict in the Assembly elections.
Sisodia claimed that when he was in jail he got offers to switch to the BJP, adding: ‘I was told, 'switch over', ' they will get you killed in jail’.
Sisodia said that he had been asked to focus on himself, his ailing wife and his son who was in the college.
He was quoted as saying: ‘I told them that you are trying to separate Laxman from Ram. No Raavan in the world has the power to do that. For 26 years, Arvind Kejriwal has been my brother and political mentor’
Narrating the financial difficulties he faced during this period, he said he had to beg for help to pay his son’s fees after ED had frozen his bank account.
He told the gathering at Jantar Mantar that Kejriwal would return to power in a matter of three or four months when elections would be taking place in Delhi.
