A student and a former member of Aligarh Muslim University Students' Union, Farhan Zuberi has been booked by Aligarh police for making 'threats to life and property' during a protest against the Frech President, Emmanuel Macron, at the University campus.

During the protest Farhan had said that anyone disrespecting Prophet Mohammed will be 'beaded. This was said by Farhan in a video posted on his Twitter handle.

"If anyone 'insults' the Prophet, we will behead him. Because our foundation and the foundation of Islam is based on the Kalma -La Ilaha Illallah, Mohammed-un-Rasool Allah (There is no God but Allah, and Muhammed is his messenger). We're a part of the Ummah–nation of Prophet Mohammed, If anyone does wrong to our prophet, then we will not tolerate it."

Farhan has been booked under the sections 156 and 153 of the Indian Penal Code.

The student leader faced criticism from the AIMIM–the political party which he recently joined. Spokesperson of the party, Adeel Alvi said that the party does not endorse Farhan's views and statements and that these were his personal opinions. Disciplinary committee of the party will enquire the matter and take action accordingly, Alvi further added.

Protests at the AMU were organised in retaliation of "anti-Islam" comments made by the Frech President Emmanuel Macron. Similar protests have been organized in many other countries including Turkey, Kuwait, Lebanon, Jordan and Pakistan, to name a few.
