Union Home Minister Amit Shah will conduct a rally at the Bhagawati Nagar ground in Jammu as part of his three day visit to the Union Territory, for the first time since the dissolution of Article 370. The programme was scheduled temporarily to be shifted to an indoor venue following heavy rains but since the weather improved, the original schedule was reinstated.

Shah is also scheduled to meet a delegation of Kashmiri Pundits at Bhagawati Nagar ground on Sunday. He was chairperson of a security council held in the wake of a spate of civilian murders committed by LeT militants, some in the heart of Srinagar itself where a school principal and a teacher were shot dead earlier this month, amongst others.

Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha, senior officials of civil, military, paramilitary forces and intelligence agencies of the UT and the Central government attended the meeting. Counter terrorism and anti-infiltration measures taken by the security forces were also discussed during the meeting.

On the first day of his visit, Shah met families of soldiers and civilians killed this month in a spate of terrorist attacks in Jammu and Kashmir and held the security review meeting in Srinagar, followed by an interactive session with the members of Jammu and Kashmir's youth club. Shah said the statehood of the UT would be restored following "delimitation" of constituencies and assembly elections.
