Al-Falah University distances itself from doctors linked to Delhi blast, condemns allegations
text_fieldsFaridabad: Al-Falah University in Haryana’s Faridabad has issued a strong statement distancing itself from the doctors arrested in connection with the recent Delhi blast and the alleged terror module, expressing deep anguish over the developments and condemning any attempts to malign its reputation.
The university came under scrutiny after two of its doctors, Dr Muzammil and Dr Shaheed, were detained following the seizure of 2,900 kg of explosives. Dr Mohammad Umar, the main suspect in the Red Fort blast that killed at least eight people, was also reportedly associated with the institution.
In an official statement, Vice-Chancellor Prof (Dr) Bhupinder Kaur Anand clarified that the university maintains only a professional relationship with the individuals under investigation. She emphasised that Al-Falah has been conducting academic and professional courses since 2019, training MBBS students who now serve in respected institutions across India and abroad. “We are deeply saddened and anguished by the unfortunate developments that took place and condemn the same. Our thoughts and prayers are with all the innocent people affected by these distressing events,” the statement read.
Security agencies have been conducting extensive checks on the university campus, questioning over 52 individuals linked to the institution. The Vice-Chancellor reiterated that the university has no connection with the detained doctors beyond their official roles and condemned what she described as “baseless and misleading” reports circulating online. She asserted that no chemicals or materials alleged in certain reports are used or stored on campus, and that all laboratory activities strictly follow safety protocols and regulatory standards.
Appealing for responsible journalism, the university urged media outlets and individuals to verify information through official channels before making or sharing statements about the institution.
