A viral tweet by the food delivery app, Swiggy has led to a bitter crossfire inviting mixed reactions from people on opposite sides of the political spectrum and leading to #BoycottSwiggy trending on Twitter.
The conflict began when Swiggy India's official account responded on Monday to a sarcastic post concerning the ongoing protests by farmers. One Monday a user took to Twitter and wrote, "Had an argument with my Bhakt friend over farmers' protest. He said that we are not dependent on farmers for food. We can always order food from Swiggy. He won."
To which Swiggy replied from its official Twitter handle, "Sorry, we can't refund education."
While several users applauded Swiggy for its hilarious comeback, many of them got enraged and called for a boycott and urged people to uninstall it.
A user wrote, "By 'we' this tweet by @swiggy_in @SwiggyCares represents the opinion of the whole organisation and attempts to take a partisan stance on the Farm Bill, without even understanding it. I've placed over 1000 orders on Swiggy and been SUPER for a year. Uninstalled."
Youtuber Dhruv Rathi tweeted: "Bhakts want to boycott Swiggy but they will have no option because they boycotted Zomato earlier. The best strategy for competitor companies is to offend Bhakts together, you'll get free publicity and they'll be unable to boycott everything 😂"

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday asserted that his government's new agricultural reforms have empowered the farmers and given them new options and legal protection. He said that the benefits of these new laws will be experienced in the coming days.
Earlier this month, Zomato had earned the wrath of social media users after it responded to actor Swara Bhaskar's demand to stop advertising on a Hindi news channel that she accused of biased news coverage. "Hi Swara, please note, we don't endorse any content except our own. That being said, we are looking into this," Zomato had responded.
