After Bulli Bai, Telegram channel with derogatory images of Hindu women surfaces

New Delhi: Just as the nation is fuming over the Bulli Bai row as India's Muslim women were listed on an app for auction, another new controversy has emerged on social media where Hindu women with derogatory words and photos are now being targeted and bullied.

As per reports, highly derogatory posts about Hindu women were being uploaded on a Telegram app based channel.

However, after the row on social media, the government of India got the channel blocked. Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw said the government was coordinating with 'police authorities of states for action'.

The minister said that Facebook has been asked to take action on such pages.

Muslim women were bullied through Sulli Deals and Bulli Bai which sparked a nationwide controversy. Now several accounts on different social networking sites have been found posting derogatory photos and comment about Hindu women.

A few verified Twitter handles reported the matter to Mumbai and Delhi Police demanding action.

A senior Delhi Police official said that they have not got any written complaint as of now and were waiting for that.

According to information, such accounts are on Twitter, Facebook, Telegram Channel and on Instagram.

Various people have shared the links of such Facebook pages with Delhi and Mumbai Police.

It is notable here that yesterday on January 4, the Mumbai Police had arrested a 21-year-old man named Vishal and an 18-year-old girl named Shweta for making an app named 'Bulli Bai' that shared images of Muslim women.

The Delhi Police said that they are discussing the matter with seniors to decide future course of action.
