Mumbai: In yet another incident of building collapse, a three-storied building in Navi Mumbai crashed on Saturday morning, and many are feared to be trapped, Asian News International reported.

However, Navi Mumbai fire department said that they had rescued two people, two of whom are likely to be trapped in the rubble.

Navi Mumbai Deputy Fire Officer Purushottam Jadhav told ANI that they received a call about the collapse of the building, located at Shahbaz village in Navi Mumbai, at 4:50 am. When two people were rescued, two more were believed to be trapped while rescue operations were underway, he said.

Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation Commissioner Kailas Shinde also said that rescue efforts are ongoing. He said that it was a G+3 building which collapsed around 5:00 am. The fire team have rescued two people, and two more are expected to be trapped. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) is here, and rescue efforts are going on, Shinde said.

More details on the mishap are awaited.

The Economic Times reported that there was an incident involving the balcony of a building falling in the Grand Road area of Mumbai, killing a person while injuring 13 others. The building in the incident, which happened on July 20 around 11:00 am, is owned by a Rubina Manzil.

The relentless showers in Maharashtra have brought the capital, Mumbai, to a standstill after public transport services were disrupted. In the entire state, many regions are experiencing severe waterlogging. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for central Maharashtra on July 28.

After the start of the monsoon this year, the falling of buildings has become a serial. In the first week of July, two-storied ones collapsed in Jharkhand, killing two people. Only a day before, a major building collapse killed seven people in Gujarat's Surat.
