Wants to step into the comic space, interested in a dark comedy film: Kajol
text_fieldsMumbai: Bollywood actress Kajol, known for her versatile performances, said she wants to explore the comedy genre and is interested in doing a dark comedy film.
In a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Kajol, along with director Suparn Verma and co-star Jisshu Sengupta, discussed their upcoming courtroom drama and various aspects of their acting journeys.
Emphasising her desire to venture into the comic space, Kajol stated, "Absolutely. My next thing; I definitely want to do a comedy. For sure. I am tired of glycerine. I told all my directors recently that if there's a bottle of glycerine, don't even take a close-up. Take a back-shot of me crying, where my shoulders are shaking. Just don't take a shot from the front."
During the interview, Kajol was asked about her interest in exploring comedy as a genre. In her trademark humorous manner, she initially quipped that she already brings comedy into her real-life on a daily basis.
Suparn Verma, the director, joined in and jokingly suggested that Kajol should charge for the behind-the-scenes footage of their show and open an 'OnlyFans' account to sell her comedy moments. While Kajol found the idea amusing, she acknowledged its inappropriateness but expressed her openness to consider it jokingly.
When asked about her involvement in comedy projects and what keeps her away from the genre. The actress clarified that nothing keeps her away from comedy and shared her enthusiasm for exploring a different style of comedy. She expressed her interest in engaging in a dark comedy that offers situational humour, allowing her to play around with the character and the storyline. She is waiting for a script that aligns with her vision of a dark comedy and expressed her willingness to hear any potential offers.
She is gearing up for the release of her upcoming courtroom drama series, "The Trial: Pyaar Kaanoon Dhokha," on Disney+Hotstar starting July 14, 2023.
