Spielbergs private jet burnt Rs 91 lakh worth of fuel in two months: report
cancel

Hollywood director Steven Spielberg's private jet was found to have burnt over Rs 92 lakh worth of fuel in two months. The report comes as a surprise because Spielberg has spoken against actions causing harm to the environment several times.

Fox News has based the report on data released by flight tracking database ADS-B Exchange. According to the data, Spielberg uses a Gulfstream G650, which undertook 16 trips spanning nearly 17,000 miles since June 23. At least three of his last trips were not added to the database compiled by Celebrity Jets.

Being one of the outspoken supporters of environmental causes, the jet fuel expenditure does not agree with his words.

In a 2018 interview, he claimed that global warming terrified him and ripped people who "go blithely through life" without caring about their impact on the environment. He added that everybody has to be held responsible for their role in climate change.

Celebrity Jets in its report said that Spielberg's jet travelled 3,589 miles from Westhampton, New York, to Amsterdam, Netherlands, on June 29. It emitted 32 tons of carbon dioxide in the process. On July 1, he took another trip to the Netherlands and emitted 38 tons of carbon. His jet has emitted at least 179 tons of carbon dioxide in eight weeks.

Recently, celebrities are being called out for using private jets that emit more carbon dioxide than an average person will be responsible for during their entire lives. Oprah Winfrey and Kylie Jenner were among those criticised by UK-based marketing firm Yard.
