'Salaar' is a bit like 'Game of Thrones' in scale and drama, says Prithviraj
text_fieldsActor Prithviraj, who is playing the antagonist in Salaar, drew parallels between the film and acclaimed HBO show Games of Thrones.
He said the Prashanth Neel directorial is a bit like Game of Thrones in terms of scale and drama, reported Pinkvilla.
The actor, known for his versatile roles said, "All the films I've done, including Salaar, depend on how the story resonated with me," said the actor.
Describing his first encounter with the script of 'Salaar,' Prithviraj expressed his immediate inclination towards the project.
"The first time I heard the script of Salaar was a couple of years back. It took me about 30 seconds after the narration to decide I want to do this," he recounted. "Right from its original story idea, Salaar is fantastic. It's a great film on paper. It's a bit like 'Game of Thrones.' That's the kind of drama and the character dynamics the film has. It is huge," Prithviraj said.
Highlighting the grandeur and vastness of the project, he spoke about the multifaceted characters and the gripping narrative dynamics. "There are so many characters. There are so many intricate character dynamics. I think I have a fantastic role," he exclaimed, emphasising his eagerness to collaborate with Prashanth Neel.
Moreover, Prithviraj acknowledged 'Salaar' as a 'Prabhas film' and expressed immense gratitude for sharing the screen space with the renowned actor. "It's a Prabhas film, and it's an absolute privilege to be sharing screen space with Prabhas and that too with a character like this," he added.
In terms of character portrayal, Prithviraj's role as Vardharaja Mannar appears to exhibit shades of grey. His appearance, adorned with a septum ring and a distinctive black tilak, adds an impactful dimension to the character.
Reflecting on the challenges of transforming into Vardharaja Mannar, Prithviraj credited director Prashanth Neel for the character's creation. "The entire credit for the styling character and creating the look goes to Prashanth. He is the kind of filmmaker who does not believe in going onto sets with very fixated ideas," Prithviraj noted.
The actor praised Neel's confidence in his craft, citing his ability to swiftly adapt and integrate new ideas during the shoot. "He's so confident with his craft, in narrating, and when an actor comes up with a new idea or if you want to walk to Prashanth for a scene you want like, and if you're able to convince him, he will change everything around you," said the actor.
He lauded Neel's ability to uncover new facets of the characters and plot points during the filming process. "The only filmmaker who is very very confident with his craft can do that," Prithviraj remarked, emphasising the creative synergy during the shoot.
