South Indian actress Sai Pallavi is receiving backlash over her comments on the Kashmiri Pandit exodus. The Hindu community has stormed over the internet for the remarks made by the actress on violence in Kashmir during an interview.

The actress was speaking to the YouTube channel Greatandhra for the promotion of her upcoming movie Virata Parvam where she plays the role of a woman who falls in love with the Naxal leader.

In the interview, she questions the purpose of violence. Being brought up in a neutral family, her parents have only taught her to help the oppressed, the actress said.

She explained her views on religious violence using two instances. One is from the recently released controversial movie Kashmir files where Hindu Pandits were assassinated, the other is where a Muslim man transporting cows was beaten up and made to recite the 'Jai Shri Ram' slogan. 'We can't see any difference,' commented the actress while making this statement.

While speaking about her opinions on the religious conflicts disrupting the peace of the country, she said,

"I'm very neutral so I will only try to say that if anyone is being oppressed…suppose among the two of us, if you're stronger than me and you oppress me, then you are in the wrong. There can be a battle only when we both are equal."

However, the Hindutva supporters commented that the remarks made by the actress in the comparison were extremely foolish. There is a huge difference between a random Muslim being beaten and an entire community being uprooted, commented a user on Twitter.

At the same time, many other users have shown support to the artist by calling her brave for raising her opinion.

Sai Pallavi and Rana Daggaubati's film is set to release on Friday, June 17.
