Ram Setu Trailer: Akshay Kumar walks on water, Internet is divided

Soon-to-be-released Akshay Kumar film Ram Setu's trailer is out and the internet is divided over the adventure thriller. The short video establishes the actor to be an archeologist trying to protect India's heritage.

The trailer opens with a powerful businessman who wants to challenge the beliefs around the Ram Setu, the bridge built by Lord Ram in the epic Ramayan. Akshay Kumar's team believes it to be real and sets out to prove its existence. They are also determined to protect it from possible demolition. Towards the end of the video, they realise the mission is a trap. Jacqueline Fernandez, Nushrratt Bharrucha, and Satyadev Kancharana are also seen in the clip.

The movie seems to be a cat-and-mouse chase with a lot of action including a robot-like suit and underwater sequences. At one point, Akshay Kumar appears to be walking on water carrying something that looks like stone.

Netizens are divided over the trailer. While some are taken by the "unique concept", others are calling out the average VFX. Some are considering Ram Setu to be a good quality film that can bring back Akshay Kumar's decent performance. Others say the better VFX was done 20 years ago in Jaani Dushman. Some are also anticipating this to be Akshay Kumar's fifth flop film in a row.

The film will hit theatres on October 25.
