Nora Fatehi files defamation case against Jacqueline Fernandez and media organisations
text_fieldsMumbai: Bollywood actor and dancer Nora Fatehi appeared before Metropolitan Magistrate Kapil Gupta on Monday to record her statement in a defamation case filed against fellow actor Jacqueline Fernandez and various media organisations.
In her statement, Nora expressed her grievances over the false narratives circulated in the media, tarnishing her reputation and accusing her of being a "gold digger" involved with con artist Sukesh Chandrasekhar.
Nora Fatehi asserted that the ongoing ED case against Sukesh has no connection to her, and she knows nothing about it. She believes she has been made a scapegoat to protect certain individuals in the industry, as she is an outsider and a soft target. Seeking compensation for the damage caused to her career, the actor accused Jacqueline Fernandez of making defamatory remarks in the media, leading to harassment, loss of work, and cyberbullying.
The defamation complaint filed by Nora claims that Jacqueline Fernandez's malicious statements attempted to absolve herself from unrelated criminal proceedings and orchestrated a conspiracy to bring down Nora's financial, social, and personal standing. The court has scheduled the recording of another witness's statement for September.
Nora's advocates Vikram Singh Chauhan, Umair Ahmed, and Tanisha argued that any dent in a person's reputation in the film industry could lead to irreparable damage to their career. Nora said that her reputation is a valuable asset, and any attempt to tarnish it aims to create opportunities for rivals in the industry.
Both Nora Fatehi and Jacqueline Fernandez have been questioned by different investigation agencies in a 200-crore extortion case involving alleged conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar and others.
