Malayalam cinema’s 1st musical horror comedy ‘Karakkam’ set for May 28 release

Chennai: The makers of director Subhash Lalitha Subrahmanian’s upcoming musical horror comedy Karakkam have released the much-awaited trailer at a special event held in Kochi, further building anticipation ahead of the film’s worldwide theatrical release on May 28.
The trailer launch event took place at PVR Forum Mall in Kochi in the presence of the cast and crew. It was officially released by production house Mammootty Kampany through its social media platforms.
Earlier, the film’s teaser had been unveiled by superstar Mohanlal on his official social media handles, drawing strong attention from audiences and industry circles.
The newly released trailer expands the film’s eerie yet entertaining world, following a group of youngsters whose lives spiral into chaos after an unexpected encounter with mysterious spirits.
Set against a blend of suspense, mystery and energetic musical sequences, the trailer offers glimpses of a universe where fear and fun coexist, with striking visuals and quirky character dynamics supported by a pulsating musical score.
The film combines supernatural thrills with humour, creating a genre-bending experience that aims to redefine the horror-comedy space in Malayalam cinema while delivering a full-fledged entertainer.
Karakkam is directed by Subhash Lalitha Subrahmanian, known for Charles Enterprises, and produced by Ankush Singh and Kimberly Trinidade under the banners of Krownstars Entertainment and Black Turtle Productions.
The cast includes Sreenath Bhasi, Femina George, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Sidharth Bharathan, Shaun Romy, Bijukuttan, Manikandan R. Achari, Midhutty and others in key roles.
Music, including songs and background score, is composed by Sam C. S.. The screenplay is jointly written by Nipin Narayanan, Subhash Lalitha Subrahmanian and Arjun Narayanan, based on a story by Dhanush Varghese. Bablu Aju handles cinematography, while Nithin Arol is the editor.
The songs feature lyrics by Anwar Ali, Vinayak Sasikumar, Muhsin Parari, Hareesh Mohanan and Su. The technical crew also includes Rajesh P. Velayudhan as art director, Aravind Menon for sound mixing, and Sync Cinema for sound design. Marketing and communications are handled by Dr. Sangeetha Janachandran (Stories Social).
With the trailer now out and audience excitement rising, Karakkam is all set for its global theatrical release on May 28.
