Makers of 'The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power' have dropped a special video that revealed that Nuimenor is a nautical society.
The fictional place created by J.R.R Tolkien is a large island to the west of Middle-earth. It is also known to be the greatest civilisation of men and is alluded to the legendary Atlantis.
In the recent clip, Galadriel, played by Morfydd Clark is seen introducing Numenor, as the westernmost of all mortal realms. The island kingdom is surrounded by the ocean and has a grand history.
Actress Cynthia Addai-Robinson, who plays Miriel, the queen regent of Numenor is seen describing it as a very nautical society at the height of its power. Pharazon, a Numenorean advisor, essayed by actor Trystan Gravelle explains how "half the island wants to cling to the Elvish culture, while the other half wants to go their separate ways."
The video also shows Elendil, a Numenorean sailor, played by actor Llyod Owen foreseeing a tragedy that is going to befall the kingdom and its people. The show begins during a time of relative peace. Showing the Second Age of Middle Earth, major events of the show are likely to be the forging of the Rings of Power, the rise of the Dark Lord Sauron, and the last alliance between Elves and Men.
The new show is set thousands of years before J.R.R Tolkein's 'The Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit'. The series is about the events leading up to the fall of Numenor. The Rings of Power is set to stream on Amazon Prime Video on September 2.
Amazon has made a five-season production commitment worth USD 1 billion which will make it the most expensive television series ever made.
