LOS ANGELES: The first trailer for the highly-anticipated series "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power," has its first trailer released by Amazon, which promises viewers to be transported back to the fictional world of JRR Tolkien's Middle-earth.

Based on the second era of Middle-Earth history, when Sauron forged the rings, the first trailer for the show was unveiled at a panel presentation at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday.

The series will bring back fan-favourite characters such as Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), Elrond (Robert Aramayo) and High King Gil-galad (Benjamin Walker) and is set for release on Prime Video in September.

All the main races of the show, including Hobbits, Elves, Dwarves and Men, as well as introducing Clarke's younger Galadriel can be seen in the trailer. It also includes a first look at actor Anson Boone's Sauron, the main antagonist of Tolkien's book series, and the terrifying creature Balrog.

Showrunners JD Payne and Patrick McKay, as well as 21 cast members, including Clark, Aramayo, Walker, Daniel Weyman, Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Owain Arthur, Maxim Baldry and Nazanin Boniadi, attend the show's Comic-Con presentation.

"The Rings of Power" follows a mix of familiar and new characters as they confront the long-dreaded return of evil to Middle-earth, according to the series' official synopsis.

"From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Numenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone," it read.

"The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" will premiere on September 2 on Prime Video in multiple languages including English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada, and have episodes added weekly.
