Rishab Shetty’s Kantara Chapter 1 continues its record-breaking run at the box office.

The film, which serves as a prequel to his 2022 National Award-winning Kantara, has entered the ₹400 crore club within 11 days of release, surpassing the lifetime collections of SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Beginning and Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire.

The period action-drama maintained its strong momentum in the second weekend, earning ₹78 crore across all languages. According to Sacnilk, the film collected ₹39 crore each on Saturday and Sunday, taking its total to ₹437.65 crore.

In its opening week, Kantara Chapter 1 registered a massive ₹337.4 crore. The Hindi version contributed ₹108.75 crore, while the Kannada version brought in ₹106.95 crore.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared an update on X, writing, “#KantaraChapter1 emerges a HIT... As expected, the film witnessed superb growth [102.39%] on its second Saturday, further cementing its status... #Maharashtra continues to drive the business for the #Hindi version. The Sunday numbers are expected to give its already-impressive total an even bigger boost... Should hit the ₹150 cr mark [today].”

With this, Kantara Chapter 1 has become the highest-grossing Kannada film of 2025, surpassing Su From So, which earned ₹125 crore. It has also outperformed Ram Charan’s Game Changer and Salman Khan’s Sikandar.

After crossing the ₹400 crore mark, Kantara Chapter 1 overtook Salaar (₹406.45 crore) and Baahubali – The Beginning (₹420 crore) in India, solidifying its position among the top-grossing Indian films of all time.

Directed and co-written by Rishab Shetty alongside Anirudh Mahesh and Shanil Guru, Kantara Chapter 1 features Rishab Shetty, Jayaram, Rukmini Vasanth, and Gulshan Devaiah in lead roles.

The film serves as a prequel to Kantara (2022), which brought Shetty nationwide acclaim. The original won two National Awards in 2024 — Best Actor for Rishab Shetty and Best Popular Film.
