Kajol wants to collaborate with Mani Ratnam, says she admires his aesthetic

Bollywood actress Kajol said that she has a strong desire to work with acclaimed director Mani Ratnam.

Despite her illustrious career spanning several successful Bollywood films, Kajol has yet to collaborate with the celebrated filmmaker.

In an interview with Film Companion, Kajol was asked if there is a list of directors she aspires to work with. Without hesitation, the actress named Mani Ratnam as her top choice. She expressed her admiration for his filmmaking aesthetic, emphasising her deep appreciation for his directorial skills. Kajol believes that working with Mani Ratnam could result in a fresh and exceptional performance from her.

Interestingly, Kajol shared an anecdote about an offer she received from Mani Ratnam during her time filming "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" with Shah Rukh Khan. Despite the temptation of collaborating with the acclaimed director, she chose to honour her prior commitment to Karan Johar for the film. Looking back, Kajol feels that her commitment to "Kuch Kuch Hota Hai" was essential and ultimately worked in her favour.

In terms of her recent work, Kajol has been seen in the crime web series "The Trial," where she portrayed the character of a lawyer. She also appeared in the OTT anthology film "Lust Stories 2." Currently, Kajol is engaged in the filming of "Do Patti," a production by Kriti Sanon, directed by Kanika Dhillon. She also has "Sarzameen" in her lineup, alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran and Saif Ali Khan's son, Ibrahim Ali Khan.

Kajol's expressed desire to collaborate with Mani Ratnam has garnered attention, fueling anticipation among fans and the film industry about a potential partnership between the accomplished actress and the renowned director.
