He knocked me to the floor: Prince Harry opens about his brother in new book

London: Prince Harry who married a woman outside the British royalty alongside choosing to live in California recounted his difficult times of marriage and separation from royal family in his autobiography—‘Spare’.

However the most notable of the scenes from both his life and his time in royal family is his brother William’s, Prince of Wales, treatment of him, according to The Guardian.

The book is to appear just as Prince Harry and his actor-wife Meghan Markle are becoming daily tidbits to tabloids around the world over a recently released Netflix documentary on their lives.

The book recounts that Harry and William fell apart over the younger prince’s marriage to the actor Meghan Markle.

The books offers a sneak peek into a more unknown side of physical confrontation between the royal brothers—of whom Harry appears to be a helpless victim.

During the confrontation that took place at his London home in 2019, William called Meghan “difficult”, “rude” and “abrasive”.

Harry described William’s name-calling of his wife a “parrot[ing of] the press narrative” about the actor.

The book’s title explains Harry’s hitherto unknown feelings of being an appendage to his elder brother.

The word ‘ Spare’ in the old saying of royal circles meant the first son is the heir to title, power and fortune and the second is but a spare, should anything happens to the first-born.

The altercation between the two princes offers remarkable insights into the familial tensions in one of the oldest surviving royal families in the world.

As the argument escalated, William “grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and … knocked me to the floor”, Harry reportedly wrote.

Before their spate turned physical, Harry offered William a glass of water in the kitchen to cool him off but William set the water and called him a name before grabbing him by the caller.

Afterwards William pinned Harry down on the floor meanwhile breaking the dogs’ bowl as the latter landed on the floor, giving him cuts and bruises.

After his act William left before returning “looking regretful, and apologised”, Harry wrote.

Alongside the book which is certain to be sold in their thousands, two interviews with Harry are due to be broadcast in the UK and US this weekend. Let’s wait for more.
