Dragon Age: The Veilguard becomes EA's biggest single-player steam launch
text_fieldsBioWare's latest release, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, has quickly become a major success following its October 31 debut on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X.
The action-RPG has shot to the top of Steam’s Top Sellers list, surpassing recent titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, and has become BioWare’s most successful Steam launch to date based on concurrent player statistics.
Within just 24 hours, Dragon Age: The Veilguard reached a peak of 70,414 concurrent players on Steam, marking BioWare’s largest launch on the platform, as noted by SteamDB. This surpasses the previous record held by Mass Effect Legendary Edition, which peaked at 59,817 concurrent players in 2021.
The new Dragon Age installment has also outperformed EA's previous major single-player title, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which reached a high of 67,855 concurrent players on Steam last year.
These figures reflect only the player count on Steam and do not include additional numbers from the Epic Games Store, EA Play, or consoles.
However, the game's success aligns with EA's high expectations.
During EA’s recent earnings call, CEO Andrew Wilson expressed confidence in The Veilguard, citing its early strong critic reviews and immersive storytelling as standout qualities. Wilson also projected an improved year-on-year financial performance for EA's third quarter, largely due to the new Dragon Age release and continued growth in EA Sports FC.
As Dragon Age: The Veilguard continues to gain popularity, it is set to contribute significantly to EA’s projected third-quarter revenue of $2.4 billion to $2.55 billion, demonstrating the strength of BioWare’s storytelling and action-packed adventure.
