Delhi: TV actress Divyanka Tripathi Dahiya is receiving backlash for her reaction to the earthquake that was felt in Chandigarh. On Tuesday evening, Chandigarh was among the places that experienced tremors from the earthquake with its epicentre in Afghanistan.

Divyanka and her husband were in Chandigarh at the time of the incident to attend her sister-in-law's wedding. She shared an Instagram video in which she called the earthquake exciting. "Okay, this is very exciting because I’m experiencing my life’s first earthquake, and you won't feel it like this… Gali mohalla sab neeche aa gayi hai in Chandigarh. This is exciting, just for now, jab tak ke zyada nahi hota."

Netizens soon slammed her for being tone-deaf and insensitive.

One Twitter user said her reaction was "disgusting" and another called her "ignorant". Another said that natural disasters are not an active workshop and asked the actress to "grow up".

The earthquake had a magnitude of 6.5 in Afghanistan and at least two people died. In Afghanistan, at least nine people were killed and 44 people were injured. Tremors were felt in Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, and Turkmenistan.
