BTS member Suga, also known as Min Yoongi, is currently under scrutiny following his involvement in a drunk driving incident.

The controversy has intensified with the release of new CCTV footage that captures Suga falling off an electric scooter, contradicting earlier statements from his agency, Big Hit Music.

The incident occurred in Hannam-dong, Yongsan District, Seoul, where the video shows Suga riding an electric scooter along a sidewalk before crashing into a curb and falling. Fortunately, a nearby police patrol witnessed the fall and quickly responded. Officers on the scene detected the smell of alcohol and conducted a breathalyzer test.

Big Hit Music initially released a statement claiming that Suga was on his way home using an electric kickboard while wearing a helmet. According to the agency, he fell while parking the kickboard after traveling about 500 meters. The statement also mentioned that a nearby officer performed a breathalyzer test, leading to a fine and the revocation of Suga's license. The agency emphasized that there were no injuries or property damage.

However, the newly surfaced footage challenges this narrative. It shows Suga actively riding an electric scooter on a pedestrian sidewalk, not merely parking, when the crash occurred. His blood alcohol content (BAC) was recorded at 0.227%, significantly above South Korea's legal limit for license revocation. In the country, a BAC over 0.2% results in more severe penalties.

The Yongsan District Police Department plans to summon Suga for further investigation regarding his alcohol consumption. Suga, who has been serving as a social service agent as part of his mandatory military service since September last year, is expected to be discharged in June of next year. The incident has led to widespread criticism and calls for accountability.
